What we collect
Notifire collects the minimum data needed to operate the service: your email address, name, role, and the news items you save or interact with. We do not sell, rent, or share this data with advertisers.
How we use it
- To send transactional emails (verification, password reset, alerts you opted into).
- To personalise your feed (interest filters and saved items).
- To detect and prevent abuse (rate limiting on signup and login).
Cookies & analytics
We use a small number of cookies, grouped into two categories:
- Essential — the NextAuth session cookie, used to keep you signed in. Always set; the site doesn't work without it.
- Analytics — loaded via a Google Tag Manager container, which in turn fires Google Analytics 4 (
_ga,_ga_*) and Microsoft Clarity (_clck,_clsk). GA4 tells us which articles readers find useful; Clarity helps us understand how readers move through the page. We do not use analytics cookies for advertising, and we do not sell or share this data.
Analytics cookies only fire after you accept via the cookie banner shown on first visit. You can decline; the site works the same either way. The admin/editorial dashboard at /bypass is never tracked.
To change your choice later, clear your notifire.cookie_consent localStorage entry (browser dev tools → Application → Local Storage) and reload — the banner will reappear.
What Microsoft Clarity records
Clarity captures aggregated session replays — anonymised mouse movement, scroll, click position, and viewport size. It deliberately masks form-input values, password fields, and any element marked sensitive. We use these recordings to improve layout and find usability problems; they are not used to identify individual readers.
